Why Your Social Media Isn't Growing (And 3 Fixes That Actually Work)
Let me be honest with you.
You've been posting. Maybe not every day, but you're trying. You put up a graphic here, a caption there, maybe even a Reel you were nervous about. And still, the followers aren't coming, the engagement is low, and you're starting to wonder if social media is even worth your time.
I hear this all the time. And I want you to know, it's not you. It's your strategy. Or the lack of one.
Here's the truth: most small business owners are showing up on social media without a real plan. They're posting when they feel inspired, reacting instead of being intentional, and then burning out and going ghost for two weeks. Sound familiar?
That cycle will keep you stuck. But the good news? It's fixable. And it doesn't require you to become a content creator overnight or hire a whole marketing team.
Let's talk about the three real reasons your social media isn't growing, and exactly what to do about each one.

FIX #1: You Don't Have a Content Strategy, You Have a Posting Habit
There's a big difference between posting and being strategic. A lot of us are doing the first one and calling it marketing.
If you're sitting down and asking yourself, "What should I post today?" every single day, that's not a strategy. That's exhausting. And it shows up in your content. Random posts don't build audiences. Consistent, intentional content does.
The fix: Get clear on three things before you post anything else.
1. Who are you talking to? Not "everyone." Get specific. Is it the woman who just started her business and is overwhelmed? The established entrepreneur who's been avoiding social media? Know her.
2. What do you want her to feel, think, or do after she sees your content?
3. What are the 3-4 topics you'll rotate through? Education, inspiration, behind the scenes, and promotion are a great starting point.
Once you have those three things locked in, posting stops feeling like a guessing game.

FIX #2: You're Being Too Polished, and People Can't Connect With You
Here's something nobody tells you: over-produced content can actually hurt you when you're a small business owner. People don't follow brands. They follow people. They want to see YOU.
I've watched entrepreneurs spend hours on a perfectly designed graphic that gets 4 likes, and then post a shaky video filmed in their car that gets 200. Why? Because the car video felt real.
Your audience wants to know who you are, how you think, and why you do what you do. They want the behind-the-scenes. They want to see the process, the journey, even the hard days.
The fix: For every promotional post you make, balance it with something personal or educational. Show your face. Share your perspective. Tell a story. You don't have to overshare, but you do have to be a human being on your page, not just a logo.
People buy from people they trust. And trust is built through connection, not perfection.

FIX #3: You're Inconsistent, and the Algorithm Knows It
I know you don't want to hear this one, but we have to talk about it.
The algorithm rewards consistency. When you post regularly, the platform learns that you're an active creator and starts pushing your content to more people. When you disappear for two weeks and come back, you're essentially starting over every time.
But here's what I want you to understand: consistency doesn't mean posting every single day. It means showing up on a schedule you can actually keep. Three times a week, done consistently, will beat seven times a week done sporadically every single time.
The fix: Batch your content. Set aside one day a month to plan and one day to create. Film multiple videos in one session. Write your captions in a block. Schedule everything in advance so you're not scrambling every morning. When you treat content creation like an appointment on your calendar instead of an afterthought, everything changes.
HERE'S THE BOTTOM LINE
Your social media isn't growing because you're winging it, and you deserve better than that. You deserve a real strategy, a system that works for your life, and content that actually sounds like you.
That's exactly what I built the Social Media Glow Up program to do.
It's not just a course. It's a hands-on experience where we build your strategy together, create your content together, and get you showing up with confidence. My participants walk away with a full content plan, real content shot and ready to post, and the clarity to keep going long after our time together is done.
If you're tired of guessing and ready to actually grow, I want to help you do that.
